Minister for Communications, Dr. Omane Boamah is alleged to have endorsed the opposition NPP at a rally in Koforidua ahead of the December polls.
In the said audio: Omane Boamah is heard urging thousands of the NDC supporters gathered to vote for President Mahama even where the elephant is.
This according to many members of the NPP is clear indication that the Minister who is seen as the right-hand man of the president has indeed endorsed the need for change.
“If by mistake the election goes for all die be die party, the country will retrogress, so for the love of Ghana, there is the need to cast good votes forMahamaa even where the elephant is (stronghold of Npp) for the country to move forward.”
But Dr. Omane Boamah in a sharp rebuttal has refuted the claims saying his words has been taken out of context by describing it as a malicious publication and urged supporters of the NDC to treat with contempt and vote for President Mahama.
“My words to the effect that ‘we shall cast our ballots correctly even in the stronghold of the elephant’ has been twisted and misreported.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I urged our supporters in both our strongholds and elsewhere to turn out in their numbers and vote for President John Mahama and the NDC parliamentary candidates.”
