Delivering a Christmas message to the people in the region, the regional minister said the celebration of Christmas must remind Ghanaians particularly Christians the relevance of sacrifice to the socio-economic development of the nation.
Hon. Eric Opoku mentioned that, Jesus Christ did the greatest sacrifice by by giving up his life and personal comfort for the salvation of mankind.
He went further to say that,the late president of Ghana, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah was incarcerated and humiliated in fighting for independence for Ghana from colonial rule.
According to him, the sacrifices made by Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah and other people by redeeming the nation from colonial rule have made them heroes and they are always remembered in Ghana’s history and political discourse.
He advised Christians to emulate the shining example of Jesus Christ by sacrificing their wealth in this yuletide to support the needy and the less privileged in the society.
Hon. Eric Opoku stressed the need for us to promote peace and unity in the region and also appealed to the people to begin 2015 by renewing their unwavering commitment towards the forward movement of the region and the nation at large.
