An Accra High Court today adjourned to October 7 a suit filed by the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) against the Electoral Commission (EC).
The trial judge, Justice Daniel Mensah adjourned the case because the second respondent, the Attorney General was not in court.
According to him, the AG must be present before the case could proceed.
The decision did not go down well with lawyers of the Electoral Commission because according to them, the delay could have a negative effect on the 2016 general elections.
The PPP filed a suit at the court after the electoral body astronomically increased the filing fee for both presidential and parliamentary candidates by over 500 percent.
