Real Madrid’s attempt to overturn the five match ban imposed on Cristiano Ronaldo has been dealt a major blow.
The appeal was rejected on Wednesday ahead of the second leg of the Super Cup clash with bitter rivals Barcelona.
Real Madrid were hoping to overturn the suspension but it was rejected on Wednesday by the Spanish FA (RFEF).

Cristiano Ronaldo was handed a five match ban by the RFEF for diving and shoving a referee Ricardo De Burgos Bengoetxea during the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup.
The ban, one match for the second bookable offense and four for shoving the referee means the superstar will miss the second of the Super Cup clash and the first four matches of the La Liga.
