Northern Region | Shots Fired As NDC And NPP Supporters Clash, Five Injured



Tension is brewing in Chereponi after clashes between  supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress and New Patriotic Party led to the injury of five people.

The incident which  happened on Monday night occurred  after some supporters of the NPP decided to disrupt  a rally of the NDC by pelting stones at them but the supporters of the NDC retaliated.

The District Chief Executive,  Hajia Mary Nakobu, told the media that a yet to be identified individual in the heat of the confusion fired shots injuring five people in the ensuing melee.

She added that the injured are responding to treatment at the Mungo hospital and called on the people be tolerant and remain calm as we get closer to the election day.
