NPP Accuses Mahama Of Bribing Regional Chairman, But NDC Rubbishes Claim
The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has accused President John Dramani Mahama and his brother, Ibrahim Mahama of bribing Mr. Bugri Naabu, the Northern regional chairman of the NPP.
The party allege that the president in a desperate attempt to hang onto power met Bugri Naabu at a secret meeting and offered him two SUVs, GH₵3.3 million, GH₵500,000 and he was on his part expected to ditch the NPP and also launch a scathing attack at its flag bearer by describing him as tribalistic and intolerant.
Speaking at a press conference on Tueday, Mustapha Hamid, the spokesperson of the Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) expressed his shock that the president could engage in such an act just to retain power and called on the good people of Ghana to help rescue the country by voting for the NPP on December 7.
“He was supposed to resign from the NPP, damage Akufo-Addo as an anti-Northern person, a rabid hater of Northerners and in turn, they were going to give him: a brand new V6 Mitsubishi vehicle, [and] a brand new V8 Land Cruiser, GHS3.3m.
“It’s terribly sad. This country is in serious trouble, we need to rescue this country from serious trouble. The presidency has been so depraved, so muddied, so dirty that I tell you in all sincerity as a Ghanaian that I feel terribly sad as a Ghanaian.
Meanwhile, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has shot down the claims by describing it one of NPP’s political gimmicks engineered to score political points.
According to Kofi Adams, the campaign co-ordinator of the NDC, the NPP is noted for these lies and so they will not give the story any credence.
