VIDEO | Vice President’s Wife, Matilda Amissah-Arthur Apologizes For Kukurantumi ‘Chalk’ Comment
Wife of Ghana’s Vice President, Mrs Matilda Amissah-Arthur has apologized for her comments made at the Kukurantumi Presby school in the Eastern Region, which has shot the school to fame within the past few days.
Madam Amissah-Arthur has been heavily criticised for the ‘chalk comments’, which has drawn so much sympathy for the pupils and teachers and subsequently rained in more donations for the deprived school.
turning down a request to provide the Kukurantumi Presby School chalks, after she had made an initial donation of five computers and 500 books.
Speaking as a special Guest at the 40th Anniversary of the Jack and Jill School in Accra Mrs Amissah-Arthur said it’s she was surprised at the headmistress’s request and find it unfortunate that her comment has been misconstrued.
“That wasn’t my intention,…..I was completely taken back when the headmistress asked for chalk… My response was intended to encourage community participation in the school. If what i said has offended people, I use this opportunity to say i am very sorry,” she said.
