When it comes to football there no doubt that clubs are measured by the number of trophies they have won.
But who holds the bragging rights in terms of the number silver wares as far as Europe’s top four leagues are concerned.
Ghnanaxtra.com has exclusively compiled the best ten clubs, that is, in the La Liga, Premier League, Bundesliga and Serie A in relation to the number of official trophies won.
Top on the league of successful clubs is Real Madrid with 87 trophies. Founded in March 1902, the club has since gone ahead to win 64 major trophies; a record 33 La Liga titles, 19 Copa del Rey, 10 Super Cups, Copa Eva Duarte and Copa de la Liga.
In European and worldwide competitions, the club has won a record 23 major trophies; 12 European/ UEFA Super Cups.
In international football, they are the only Spanish club to have won both international titles, a joint record three Intercontinental Cups, and two FIFA Club World Cups.
Adjudged as the FIFA Club of the 20th Century on 11 December 2000, they also received the FIFA Centennial Order of Merit on 20 May 2004.
In 2010, the IFFHS awarded Real Madrid for been the Best European Club of the 20th Century.
Though, they jointly share this enviable position with their bitter rivals, Barcelona who also have 87 trophies, it looks as if their exploit in football history has eclipsed the Catalans.
