The Northern Regional Command have intercepted some arms and magazines at Savelugu. The seizure made up of 320 AK47 and two sets of magazines were intercepted upon a tip off in a Kumasi bound bus at Savelugu in the Northern Region.
Addressing the media, the Northern Regional Police PRO ASP Ebenezer Tetteh disclosed that the driver of the bus Sayibu Sandow who has since been remanded by the court after his arrest admitted that the items belonged to him and that he was en-rout to Kumasi to sell them.
“Upon interrogation, he [Sayibu Sandow] told us that he bought the ammunitions from somebody in Bawku [in the Upper East Region] some years back and that he was taking them to Kumasi to offer them for sale. So we took him to court and he has since been remanded.”
He added that investigations are still ongoing to unravel the full details of the case in order to prosecute the accused person .
