The flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo is in hot waters as the Chiefs of Effutu in the Central region have given him a 48-hour ultimate to apologise for using the derogatory “Simpa Panin” comment.
The call comes after Nana Akufo-Addo during his tour of the Brong Ahafo region described the President as “Simpa Panin” over his refusal to condemn Honourable Nii Lantei Vanderpuiye for masterminding attacks against some NPP supporters in Odododiodoo.
But the Tufohene of Effutu, Neeyi Otubua Sripi II, addressing a press conference yesterday said the term which is used to express unpleasant situations and irresponsible leadership is derogatory to the people of Effutu.
He asserts that for the flagbearer of the NPP, a distinguished member of the bar to align himself with such an unfortunate statement by describing the President as “Simpa Panin” is not only strange but an affront to the good people of Effutu.
“You will always hear a user of this saying in extreme anger,disappointment against any elder and or leader who failed to honour his/her assigned duties and responsibilities. It is in this context that Nana Addo described his Excellency the President of the Republic thus He is “

“We consider that statement from no less a person than the flag bearer of the leading opposition party leader as an affront and insult to the Effutu people,describing the elder of Effutu as people who lack character to call their subjects to other”.
Neeyi Otubua Sripi II, therefore called on Nana Addo Danquah to apologise and warned that they will deal appropriately with anyone who uses the “Simpa Panin” accolade to represent a useless leader.
