The Head-pastor of the Apostolic Church Ghana of the Sene East District in the Brong Ahafo region, Pastor D. Sackey and an Elder of the same church, Elder Ampaw were on Sunday morning gunned down by armed robbers on the Kumasi-Atebubu highway.
The robbers numbering five, put out the audacious but criminal act at Abour near Akokoa in the Atebubu-Amantin District around 8:00 am.
An eyewitness who spoke to banewsgh.com said the robbers, four Fulani and one twi speaking individual stopped all vehicles to and from Atebubu before robbing them of various sums of monies.
He added that it was in the course of the robbery that the two deceased individuals got to the scene on a motorbike at a top speed and so could not stop when they were ordered by the robbers to stop prompting the robbers to shoot them killing them instantly in the process.
ASP George Antwi Tanor in an interview with the media confirmed the tragic incident and said they are still combing the area to bring the perpetrators to face the full rigors of the law. He added that the bodies have since been deposited at the Asante Mampong Government Hospital.
This is the second time in a month that robbery has been carried out in a similar fashion in the area as in the early hours of April 12, some four armed men also robbed passengers on the Atebubu – Kwame Danso road.
