Asamoah Gyan Sues Mugabe For Libel

Host of Montie FM’s socio-political show Pampaso, Mugabe Maase has been sued at the Accra High Court by the captain of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan for libel.

The suit is over allegations that the Shanghai SIPG striker is a funding the campaign of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Gyan is praying the court to award general damages for libel contained in the said publications.

According to Kissi Agyebeng lawyer for the plaintiff, his client is seeking for  exemplary and/or aggravated damages for libel contained in the defendants’ publications and also  praying the High Court to place a perpetual injunction restraining the defendants, whether by themselves, servants, agents or assigns from repeating similar or other libelous words against the plaintiff as well as costs, including lawyers’ fees.

Also joined in the suit is the founder of  the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Madam Akua Donkor.

Mugabe Maase and madam Akua Donkor on 15th June,2016 alleged that the Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan is funding the campaign of Nana Akuffo Addo.

But Asamoah Gyan in a tweet flatly denied the allegation by describing it as irresponsible journalism .

“Say no to irresponsible journalism, the owners or managers of Muntie FM must call their journalists to order.

“I’m a footballer and not a politician. I serve Ghana not politicians or [political] parties. I don’t fund politics, there’s more joy in charity and philanthropy and my works are my evidence.

“Journalism is a noble profession, say no to irresponsible Journalism. Hate can’t win, get a life and God will bless you”.
