Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has taken an indirect shot at Arsene Wenger as he welcomed Unai Emery to the Emirates. The Gabonese striker stated that Arsenal failed to improve during the twilight of Arsene Wenger’s reign at the Emirates.
Emery was appointed as Wenger’s successor earlier this week after his two-year spell with French giants Paris Saint-Germain came to an end.
Unai is said to have performed excellently well impressing the Gunners chiefs with his knowledge of the club and vision for the future during his interview. Arsenal fans will be hoping the Spanish tactician can take them back to their glory days.
Some players were clearly disappointed to see their legendary manager leave the Emirates Stadium after 22 years in charge but Arsene Wenger’s last Winter signing seem to have a different opinion.
Aubameyang believes the decision to change managers is a good one, despite only moving to Arsenal in January. He said the club had “stagnated” under Arsene Wenger and insisted that everyone involved at the club is actually “excited” about the new appointment, saying: “I think it’s a little bit of a mixed feeling.
“Over the last few seasons you have to tell the truth, the club has stagnated a little bit. I think everyone is actually a little bit excited to see what happens next season.”
The former Borussia Dortmund man looks set to play a big role under Emery.
