Be Vigilant on Election Day, Bagbin Cautions NDC

The Majority Leader in Parliament, Mr. Alban Kingsford Sumani  Bagbin has cautioned the ruling National Democtratic Congress against complacency going into election 2016.

He also assured members of the party that the parliamentary caucus of the party will work assiduously to maintain their numerical strength over the opposition in the upcoming elections. Mr. Bagbin made these assertions at a party workshop in Koforidua on Thursday.

According to him, even though the NDC government has made many strides in various sectors of the economy, that along cannot guarantee them victory and so there is the need for vigilance and adequate policing on election day.

“…Let’s be very careful about what we say or what we don’t say. Because speech is not only words…It is very important to our winning the elections, but the only effective instrument to winning elections is vigilance.

Mr. Bagbin further unequivocally stated that making laws and putting the best systems in place along do not win elections.

“You can make the laws, you can put the systems in place, you can do everything but if you are not vigilant you cannot win the elections. You don’t win elections through the Electoral Commission and courts never win elections for anybody,”.
