Government Begins Payment Of Abated Allowances To Nursing Trainees

Government has through the Ministry of Health begun the payment of abated allowances to nursing trainees across the country.

The payment of the abated allowance follows the advice of the Technical Committee set up by the President to review the Nursing Trainee Allowance Policy.

The payment is to serve as a stopgap pending the amendment of the Students Loan Trust Act, to enable Students in Non tertiary Health Training Institutions access Loans just like their counter in other tertiary institutions.

According to a statement signed by the Head of Public Officer Relations of the Ministry of Health, Mr. Tony Goodman, an untaxed amount of  One Hundred and Fifty Ghana Cedis (GHC150.00) per student for three months making a total amount of Four Hundred and Fifty Ghana Cedis (GHC450.00)  is to be paid to each trainee.

It warned that any  accountant who fails to pay the amount in full will be dealt with.
