Former Ghana defender John Paintsil has been appointed an assistant coach for South African side Kaizer Chiefs, the club has announced.
The former Fulham star announced his retirement last week having been released by Maritzburg United a few months back but would return to the PSL as a backroom staff for the Amakhosis.
He would assist former South Africa national team coach Steve Komphela, with whom he worked out a good relationship during his days at Maritzburg United.
The two will be joined by goalkeeper’s coach Alexandre Revoredo and Marco Muhnoz, the physical trainer.
Paintsil’s professional career spanned a period of 17 years during which he played for Berekum Arsenals, Liberty Professionals, Leicester City, Fulham, Westham, Santos, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Tel Aviv.
He also played in two FIFA World Cup Finals for Ghana.
