Kumasi Police Arrest A Man Suspected To Be Supplying Arms To Robbers

A 72-year-old Burkinabe Moro Sata has been busted by the Ashanti Regional Police command for possessing and dealing in ammunition.

Briefing the media, DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye said, as part of the Command’s ‘Operation Christmas’, the Manhyia Police embarked on a surveillance operation at Akwatia Line, a suburb of Kumasi leading to the arrest of the suspect upon a tip off.

According to DCOP Boakye, a search was conducted at his residence leading to the retrieval of some sophisticated weapons and ammunition.

He mentioned Light Machine Gun, AK47 Tracer Ammunition, G3-10, AAA Ammunition, Firing Pin-04 and Clocking Handing-01 as some of the weapons found in his bed room.

According to him, when the suspect was interrogated by the police, he admitted dealing in the ammunition business and disclosed that, he imports the weapons from neighboring Ivory Coast, which he supplies to some armed robbers in the region and also exports some of the consignment to Niger.

DCOP Kofi Boakye, revealed that, the police is intensifying investigations to apprehend his accomplices.
