It has emerged that the counter petition book opened at the Head-quarters of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) to compel the president not grant pardon to the Montie trio has been stolen.

According to sources, some four individuals who went to the office under the guise of signing the counter petition stole the book.

Speaking on Okay Fm on the issue, Divine Nkrumah, the National Youth Coordinator of the PPP confirmed the sad incident saying some four individuals came for the book from the Administrator, Mr. Farouk but unfortunately they made away with it.

He added that they have lodged a formal complaint at the Nima Police Station and are hopeful that the perpetrators will be arrested.

The Progressive People’s Party (PPP)  launched a petition calling on the president not to invoke Article 72 of the Constitution by granting clemency to the jailed Montie FM contemnors.

The counter petition which sought to solicit one million signatures to back their demands saw the presidential nominee of the PPP, Papa Kwasi Nduom signing since according to him it will be a wrong move.

“It will be a wrong move for the president to respond positively to the petition [to free the contemnors]. …We will also collect signatures for people to support the Supreme Court of Ghana and support the culture of decency in our politics.”
