Uganda and East Africa’s longest-serving president Yoweri Museveni has a way of making headlines and staying in the news almost all the time.
You mostly hear of him when he’s done one funny thing or influenced the arrest of his main rival and opposition leader Kizza Besigye or perhaps when he releases a rap song – two of which he has already.
As always, the 71-year-old has managed to get social media buzzing with yet another stunt as depicted in the above picture.
The press officer to President Museveni, Don Wanyama yesterday shared the very unusual photo of his boss sitting on a chair on the side of a village road making a phone call midway through an official journey.
Mr Museveni had stopped his long motorcade to make that 30-minute phone call and no one really knows who he was speaking to.
His press secretary wrote this when he shared the pictures on Facebook:
“On the way from Isingiro District yesterday where he’d presided over the World Population Day celebrations, President Museveni stopped at Kyeirumba Village to make a phone call. Curious residents gathered to look at the President, who after 30 minutes on phone, briefly interacted with them. They thanked the government for tarmacking the road linking Uganda to Tanzania through Isingiro.”
Many are wondering whether Museveni’s convoy carry chairs around or this was just a publicity stunt as he got time to wave at a passerby whilst making that phone call.
