All the hostages kept by suspected Islamist gunmen who stormed a hotel in the Malian capital, Bamako, have been freed, officials say.

Malian security forces backed by US and French special forces raided the US-owned Radisson Blu Hotel in an effort to rescue some 170 held after the gunmen entered the hotel, shooting and shouting “God is great!” in Arabic.

A member of parliament in Belgium’s Wallonia region, Geoffrey Dieudonne, is one of at least three people who have been killed in the attack, officials sources say. Two soldiers have also been reported wounded.
