Reports reaching banewsgh.com indicates that, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Headquarters has been completely ransacked last night.
According to a report, the police have taken over the place and the party’s security detail, which is responsible for the day to day protection of the Headquarters is not seen.
The police have however cordoned off the premises to avoid the tempering of material evidence for investigation.
A party member who spoke to the media said, he was informed that at about 1am this Monday morning, a group of military personnel stormed the headquarters to search all the offices with the exception of the treasurers office. He said after the search, they went behind the offices and retrieved four AK47 riffles.
The military personnel were said to have arrested one of the party security guards and taken him to a nearby police station. Eleven people have so far been arrested in connection with the incident.
Party supporters and some National Executives have massed up at the NPP Headquarters but are being the police have prevented them from entering the premises.
According to our source, tension is mounting but the heavy police presence is doing everything possible to avert any possible violence.
Meanwhile, there are speculations that, the party’s suspended Chairman, Mr Paul Afoko Orchestrated the ransacking of the NPP Headquarters.
