The R.S Amegashie Auditorium on the University of Ghana campus, the venue for the the 2017 edition of the National Science and Maths Quiz was thrown into a state of frenzy and ecstacy as the boys of Prempeh College today humbled Mfantsipim to book one of the tickets for the grand finale.
The boys from Sofoline and three-time champions of the competition made a piecemeal of their two counterparts Mfantsipim, two-time champions of the competition and Mawuli School right from the onset.
The win means the “Seniors” as the lads from Prempeh College are affectionately called have been able to atone for the defeat they suffered at the hands of Mfantsipim in 2016.
Sarfo-Ansah Wonder and Daniel Osei Bandu were the toast of the huge crowd present as they quickly got into a comfortable lead in the first round.
At the end of the first Round, Prempeh College garnered 30 points with Mfantsipim and Mawuli School on 19 and 18 points respectively, a lead they held on to the fifth round to emerge victorious.
With defeat staring in the face of the Mfantsipim, divine intervention seems to be the only remedy left as some students of Mfantsipim could be seen praying freverishly for some miracle to stop Prempeh College but that seems not to have worked as Prempeh College still held on to the end.
Finally, the “son” beats the “father” in what has been described as one of the keenly contested encounters in this year’s National Science and Maths Quiz.
Suban Ne Nimde3, Congratulations Prempeh College!
