The Brong-Ahafo Regional Coordinator of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Mr. Pascal Assan Edwards has declared his outfit’s readiness to address the thorny national issue of youth unemployment.
Ghana’s unemployment data reveals that a staggering 65% of the jobless falls within the range of 15-24 years.
And according to Mr Edwards the menace could be attributed to lack of employable skills, the capacity and ability to fit well in the competitive local and international job markets.
It is in this vein that the NYA in collaboration with Suncity Radio and the Barclays Bank ‘Ready to Work Project’ is organizing a one-day orientation seminar in Sunyani on Wednesday, June 15th, 2016.
“The programme which would be held at the Adult Education center would prepare and equip participants with the requisite skills to be gainfully employed,” he told Sunyani-based Suncity Radio.
Mr Edwards, further explained that the Barclays Bank “Ready to Work Project” was committed to providing learning materials that could help young people to develop work skills, people skills, money skills and entrepreneurship skills to make them more marketable and have an edge over their competitors on the job market and thus reduce unemployment in the region and the nation.
