One of Ghana’s representatives at the just ended 2018 Robofest World Championship at the Lawrence Technical University, Southfield Michigan, USA, Opoku Ware Senior High School won the Robofest Senior Game Innovation Award.
Facing competitions from America, China, Hong Kong, Mexico and Korea, the Ghanaian contingent made up of Team Roid from Opoku Ware School, Team Shut Up from Right to Dream and Team Giantbot from GSTS did not disappoint at all.
Team Shut Up placed 8th, Team Giantbot 12th and Team Roid Placed 14th out of twenty three schools.
For their level of innovation, Team Roid which was represented by Peter Ampraku, Nathaniel Okai, Emmanuel Kofi Asare Yeboah, Papa Yaw Boakye Acheampong and Godfred won the Robofest Senior Game Innovation Award.
Robofest is a festival of competitions and events with autonomous robots that encourages students to have fun while learning principles of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths (STEM) and Computer Science.
Students design, construct and program the robots.
Started in the year 2000, over 20,000 students have since competed in Robofest.
