Embattled and suspended chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Paul Afoko has revealed that some elements within the party wanted to use the streets to win elections instead of the ballot box.
Mr. Afoko who believed he was suspended because he wanted to bring reforms to the party referred to these people as “intolerant militant wing” and added that those people occupy certain key positions of influence in the party. He made these shocking and damning exposé in the April edition of the Africa Watch Magazine.
According to him, some members of the party invited some Serbians into the country to train certain members of the party on how to use what he describes as “militant and crazy route” to win elections.
“When we got to the hotel, I saw our people all over the place with two Serbians, a man and a woman, but I was told the Serbians were four an d that had left. I walk in and saw the National Organizer, John Boadu, and I asked what was going on.
“He was holding a piece of paper, and i snatched the paper out of his hands. It was the training contents and I was shocked to my bones what i was reading.
“These people were out of their minds. They wanted to win the elections on the streets of Ghana and not at the ballot box”.
Mr. Paul Afoko who was accused of thwarting the chances of the flag bearer in the upcoming 2016 general elections, was suspended indefinitely as the National Chairman of the party in October last year upon the recommendation of the National Executive Committee.
