Mr Augustine Asante has retained his position as the Brong-Ahafo Regional Football Association Chairman in a closely fought election held at the Sunyani Coronation Park.
He polled one hundred and three (103) votes out of the 179 votes cast by the delegates to beat his contender, Mr Ralph Gyambrah who also polled 67 votes.
The declaration of the election results by the Electoral Commission was greeted with jubilation by his supporters and campaign team who have prosecuted a thorough campaign to ensure the victory of their candidate.
Prior to the election, the campaign teams for the two candidates were engaged in a smear campaign to discredit each other in order to gain undue advantage in the election.
In his victory speech, Mr Asante expressed his gratitude to the delegates for the confidence reposed in him by voting massively to retain him as the R.F.A Chairman.
He said, the victory is an indication of an overwhelming endorsement and trust the delegates, football administrators and supporters of the game of soccer have in him in view of the commitment and hard work he has demonstrated since he assumed the office of the highest football authority in the Brong-Ahafo Region.
He assured the football fraternity that, he will continue to work closely with them, and welcomes suggestions and proposals from soccer administrators towards the promotion of soccer in the Brong-Ahafo.
