Sene East | PPP Parliamentary Nominee Threatens Court Action Over Disqualification

The Sene East Parliamentary nominee for the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Madam Alice Berko has threatened to place a court injunction on the December polls if the Electoral Commission (EC) fails to reconsider its decision to disqualify.

According to her, it is strange and difficult to understand why the EC could disqualify her after she had diligently and meticulously filled the forms.

Speaking exclusively to, Madam Alice Berko revealed that she has decided to seek redress in court  in order declare the actions of the EC as null and void because she feels the electoral body handled the matter suspiciously and unconstitutionally.

“After we submitted our nomination forms, we were told to go and wait for their call later but unfortunately, that call never call.

“It was only when the notice of poll came that I saw that i have been disqualified. I have spoken to my lawyers and we are ready to pursue the matter to its logical conclusion”.

She added that she suspects the incumbent Member of Parliament for the area, Honourable Dominic Napare  of orchestrating her disqualification since he has seen that her candidature could affect his bid to secure  a second term.
