Soldier Man and 5 Others Nabbed For Robbery


baccsod-robberyTraffic came to a standstill today on the Rex – Poly Roundabout stretch of road as many people trooped in to the B/A Regional Police Headquarters to catch a glimpse of armed robbery suspects arrested around 3pm this afternoon.

A military officer Staff Sergeant Alhassan Hameed, 42 and five other persons were arrested by the Police for alleged robbery upon a tipoff that the suspects had robbed the Wenchi Branch of BACCSOD (Brong-Ahafo Catholic Cooperative Society for Development), a microfinance institution.

The other suspects were Sheriff Adams 31, Osei Kuffour 32, Kwadwo Francis 25, Exmond Barwuah, 27 and Kwabena Yeboah, 32.

Briefing the media, Regional Police Crime Officer, Chief Superintendent Alhaji Mahama Arhin said, upon receiving the tipoff, the Police Patrol Team swiftly moved into action and mounted a barrier at Yawhima on the Sunyani -Techiman road where the six bad nuts were eventually arrested.

Sheriff Adam, also known as Alhaji Fresh, was allegedly involved in the robbery of Tonket Limited, a Nestle Distributor in June 2014, and is currently out on bail.

Items retrieved from the suspects included an unspecified amount of money, two pistols, knives, a crow bar, four mobile phones, cartridges and a military uniform.

Snippets of information picked up by BA News indicates that one of the suspects is the nephew of an NDC top notch in Sunyani.baccsod-robbery-items
