It may hit you as the biggest surprise of the new year, but sources close to BA News strongly indicate that the longest serving host of Space FM’s late afternoon show, Barima Yaw Owusu popularly known as Warren ‘The Mixing’ Gee has abandoned ship and switched allegiance to the newest radio station in the region, Storm 101.9 FM.
Readers would recall that in June 2011, BA News listed Warren G’ as one of the presenters who are likely to join the new station should they finally begin serious business. Our sources say the star presenter and DJ has agreed to be part of the Storm FM team to help shape up things and is already making some inputs into their on-going test-transmission.
Warren G’s move is a big one considering the size of the market he owns and his loyalty to his former employers. At least one can confidently say that this gentleman has for a very long time been the leader of all late afternoon show hosts in the region. His demeanor and style of presentation attracts respect and admiration from both young and old.
He is multifaceted and is capable of doing the morning show as well. He was the stand-in host of the Space Morning Flight any time Nana Kas was away and on all occasions he was able to stamp his authority on the show. Again, Warren G’ is an events man and can bring his experience to bear on outdoor programs of the young station.
Storm FM is gradually growing big after the initial hiccups when they were making some unpardonable mistakes. Their decision to include a great deal of burger highlife and old hiplife in their playlist is helping them really well. Readers would remember we complained about their music choices in one of our previous articles when we prescribed the dosage of music relevant in test-transmission situations.
This is only one of few movements to hit the B/A radio fraternity in the course of time. BA News promises to let you in on all the gossips.
