Lead local governance advocate, Bernard Oduro Takyi will be seeking to topple Labour Minister Ignatius Baffour Awuah as they battle for the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary slot for the Sunyani West Constituency.

BA News can confirm that the former Presiding Member of the Sunyani West Municipal Assembly and Assembly Member for the Kwatire Electoral Area has picked nomination forms to contest in the NPP’s upcoming primaries.

The decision by Bernard Oduro Takyi to contest in the intraparty primaries slated for April 25 does not come as a surprise to political watchers in the region considering his popularity and years of party activism in the constituency.

Mr Oduro Takyi, affectionately B.O.T is a lead advocate, business advisor, strategist and a well-known figure within the NPP in the Bono region.

A popular voice on radio in Sunyani, he is seen by the younger generation as the new face of the Sunyani West Constituency who is poised to bring the 12 years dynasty of the incumbent to an end.

Considered a respectable figure in Odumasi, Chiraa and their surrounding communities, the outspoken young man will sure give Ignatius Baffour Awuah whose popularity has dwindled a run for his money.

An Entrepreneur and International Speaker, Bernard Oduro Takyi was selected by the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC)-UK to lead the Commonwealth Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs-West Africa to the 9th Edition of the VIBRANT GUJARAT Global Summit in India January 2019.

He doubles as the Regional Coordinator of the Commonwealth Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs-West Africa with the mandate to promote Business and Youth Entrepreneurship among the 5 Commonwealth Member States in West Africa.

In 2016, he was selected as a Mandela Washington Fellow by the United States Government and currently promotes peace as a Peace Building Ambassador and Mentor in West Africa.

He was the leader of the team that started the campaign for Assembly Members to be well resourced and empowered to undertake their mandate as grass root development and governance agents.

A renowned speaker and youth development activist, Bernard has shared platforms with many global leaders in business, politics and governance and so it is predicted that his entry will change the dynamics in the contest.
