Yahya Jammeh | Jackie Appiah, Others Given Free Land In Gambia

Ghanaian star actress Jackie Appiah and a couple of Nollywood stars have been dashed plots of land by the Gambian President Yahya Jammeh.

The presentation took place in Banjul at Gambia’s presidential palace on Saturday October 10, 2015.

Standing in to do the presentation on behalf of the president, vice president of the Gambia, Dr. Mrs Isatou Njie-Saidy said, the gesture was to reward the stars for making Africa proud and also encourage them to make Gambia their home by building houses there. She encourage them to work hard and achieve more laurels.

“Nollywood and Ghallywood have been able to capture and tell our stories better than any outsider can do. Africans relate to your stories and same with those in the diaspora and the Caribbeans and around the world.”……”You are great African ambassadors and you must continue to achieve and surpass what you have today – you have made us proud.”

Leader of the group of stars, Francis Duru, was full of gratitude to President Jammeh. He pledge on behalf of his colleagues to create opportunities for emerging Gambian entertainers.

Other beneficiaries of the gift include Patience Ozokwor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Tony Umez, Segun Arinze, Monalisa Chinda, Eucharia Anunobi, Ejike Asiegbu,  Ngozi Ezeonu, Chika Okpala, Harry B Anyanwu, Chinedu Ikedieze and Osita Iheme, Rukiat Masud.
